Climbing & Outdoor BooksCheck out the books we recommend in the store including Mountaineering: Freedom of the Hills ed.7 2003. Considered by many the 'Bible' of Alpine Travel. 12/16/2004 - Patrick Grill Just bought the Train to Climb Mt. Rainier DVD. It's great. I am planning on making the climb at the end of August, and have already started the 6-month program. I was thinking about either alternating months 3 & 4 for several months or doing 2 months of 3, 2 months of 4 and 2 months of 5. Your thoughts? Patrick, thanks for the compliment on the DVD. Glad you're enjoying it. I would suggest doing 10 weeks of month 3, 8 weeks of month 4 and 5-6 weeks of month 5 (the toughest on the body, so you don't want to risk overtraining so close to the climb) before getting into your peak month (perhaps with an extra week in there.) Hope that makes sense, and if we can help any further as you progress with your training, don't hesitate to ask! Best of luck to you! ![]() Thanks for the question,
