Courtenay Schurman, MS, CSCS

Body Results Co-Owner, Author

Courtenay is co-author of The Outdoor Athlete (2009) and Train to Climb Mt. Rainier or Any High Peak DVD (2003). She wrote the conditioning chapter for Mountaineering: Freedom of the Hills (ed. 7, 8 and 9) considered worldwide to be the Bible of mountaineering. She is also a regular contributor to a column called Peak Fitness through the Seattle Mountaineers' Magazine. Her articles include over 600 pages for the BodyResults.com website. She has also been interviewed for magazines and newspapers around the country. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and a climb leader through the Seattle Mountaineers.

Additional writing credentials include completion of the University of Washington's Writing for Kids (2014) and Memoir (2015) programs, and she has completed the Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coaching certification (2015) and is enrolled in their Level 2 Supercoach program (to finish summer 2016).

Courtenay coordinates, develops and teaches seminars and outdoor conditioning workshops for the Seattle Mountaineers and REI. Her clients include athletes around the world who have lofty adventure goals ranging from backpacking the Grand Canyon to climbing the Seven Summits, skiing to the south pole, to trekking in Nepal or Bhutan. Her own outdoor adventures include climbs of Kilimanjaro, Mauna Loa, Mt. Rainier, a trek across the Tongariro Alpine Crossing (with her husband AND daughter, at age 10) in New Zealand, and numerous Cascade volcanoes and peaks. She plans to do far more local exploring with the company of her new labraheeler puppy, Ajax.

Philosophy of training: "We are all WIP's - Works in Progress - and no matter how much we know, there is always more we can learn, something Carol Zweck refers to as the growth mindset. At Body Results we integrate sports psychology, nutrition, conditioning, self-talk and life planning into a holistic, client-centered approach to reaching goals. Everyone coming to me is unique and deserves a personalized approach. Group training is perhaps the hardest thing I've ever done, as each person comes with different needs, knowledge and personal filters. I embrace the challenge of working past obstacles and helping people discover strengths they never knew they had. Outdoor activities give us the mental break, stimulation and challenge we all need in order to be more creative, effective, and efficient in work and play, and at Body Results we strive to develop the foundation on which all other activities of our life are based."

Doug Schurman, MBA, CSCS

Doug enjoys the wilderness sports and nature. He regularly participates in hiking, mountaineering and climbing. He has a passion for photographing wildlife with a specific interest in birds. He also enjoys learning about and testing the latest and greatest developments in strength training and competing in the sport Powerlifting. He is co-author of The Outdoor Athlete (2009) and Train to Climb Mt. Rainier or Any High Peak DVD (2003). Doug is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and a climb leader for the Seattle Mountaineers.

Doug leads seminars and workshops with his wife Courtenay for Puget Sound groups including the Seattle Mountaineers and REI. He works primarily with highly motivated Outdoor Adventurers from around the US through the on-line WebTrainer service. His clients have summitted mountains such as Mt Everest, Denali, Mt Rainier, volcanoes around the world and Himalayan peaks. His client have also done various backpacking and trekking adventures like Grand Canyon and sections of the Pacific Crest Trail.

"I really get motivated when I work with another person who has specific goals. Virtually anything is possible when a person has the motivation. The human body has almost unlimited potential that most people only tap into 10%. I like to work with people who are not willing to accept traditional limitations and who constantly expand their own comfort zone. This is where I believe life exists."
